Here are the questions that Living In Midvale asked the candidate. As
soon as the candidate answers the questions, we'll post those too.
Bryant,
Public Safety:
- Whats your vision for a community based police?
- How do you think we can help residents feel more comfortable with
communicating with the city, instead of going to Facebook for their
answers?
Police:
- With an already tight budget, thanks for the transparency, how do
you propose that Midvale supports having block parties more often than
once a year and hosting events to help the residents get
to know the Midvale officials and police better?
- You mentioned that citizens need to trust the police,
what can be done to help with that?
Homelessness:
- You said that the state needs to come to terms with us,
regarding the homelessness issue, what do you mean by that and what
do you think can be accomplished?
Growth:
- When you said that Midvale is small and that we have
to comply with what the state says, because we are small, what
do you mean by that?
- How can Midvale grow on its own, if were having to comply
with the state?
- How do you define adaptive reuse and what areas do you
see that happening?
Money:
- You have been on the Midvale City Council for a while now, with the
14% tax increase in the last 10 years, do you think that has been enough
for Midvales needs? Why or why not?
Property Tax:
- Buy local has become a common phrase, what do you see
in Midvale as great buy local resources?
Housing Affordability:
- What do you think needs to be done to improve our code for
redevelopment?
- What changes would you like to see to make it easier for ADUs?
- What resources does Midvale offer for those wanting to get a house
or need help with their house, and how do those resources work?
ICE:
- ICE has been a hot topic and according to what weve found,
ICE hasnt been a big issue in Midvale, and you said that youre
not okay with UPD assisting ICE, why?
- Wouldnt it be better to use the resources of the UPD to work
with ICE to help them find the murders, rapists, drug/human traffickers,
etc, instead of them going off of what limited info they may have and
accidentally arresting those they werent intending to go after
and causing fear for residents?
Events and Activities:
- A common thing we hear is that its hard to compare Midvale
to, Sandy, Salt Lake, Murray, Taylorsville, etc., which is understandable
because of their larger budgets, but many much smaller towns like Copperton,
Helper, Payson, Bluff, Oakley, Green River, Midway and many more, have
events that rival what Midvale does. What can Midvale do to have more
events that draw people here and can also help support with buy
local.
- You had said that people arent attending the Arts Council events,
what can be done to help with that or does Midvale need to re-allocate
some of that money to other things in the city that can draw attention?
- You asked someone in attendance about a storytelling project that
they were working on, do you have plans for any kind of storytelling
festival in Midvale?
City Outreach:
- How much of a difference do you think itll make to get City
Councilmembers involved on social media? What social media do you think
is the most effective and what kind of interaction do you think needs
to happen to make this effective?
- What do you think are the best and most effective ways to get businesses
to market events in Midvale?
- What additional information can be placed in the utility bills for
informing residents?
Favorite Part of Midvale:
- What is it about District 4 that makes it one of your favorite parts
of Midvale?
- What other things do you enjoy about Midvale?
Other:
- If you dont get re-elected as City Council, what will you do
to help make Midvale a better place?
- Is there anything else you would like the residents of Midvale to
know about you or your plans if you do get re-elected to City Council?
