Here are the questions that Living In Midvale asked the candidate. As
soon as the candidate answers the questions, we'll post those too.
Brandee,
Public Safety:
- What resources would you like to let the community know about for
those who need help, especially for those with mental health issues
and other struggles and how would you make that information available?
- Since theres an issue with needles in the park, you said youd
like to start a needle exchange program; why do you think
thatll help and how would it work?
Police:
- You said that you have neighbors who are undocumented and afraid
to contact the police, what would you like to do to help resolve that
issue?
Homelessness:
- Youve noticed an average of 3 eviction notices on each apartment
building youve gone to, have you noticed if these are older run
down apartments or the newer and more expensive apartments and how do
you plan on helping with the homeless issues in Midvale?
Growth:
- Whats your vision for handling the growth of Midvale?
- You mentioned that Midvale isnt pedestrian friendly,
how would you like to resolve that?
- How do you anticipate we can accommodate the growing traffic problems?
- What parking considerations would you like for the high density housing?
Money:
- When you say that we need to be smart with tax payer money, how would
you like to see Midvale change how they use the tax payer money and
have you seen any issues that concern you?
- How would you like to see big development invest more in Midvale?
Property Tax:
- You said that the property taxes in Midvale are relatively low compared
to those around us and we dont need to increase them; if theyre
low, why dont we need to increase them and how would you help
the residents of Midvale understand your feelings on this?
Housing Affordability:
- What "unnecessary" fees have you seen or heard that landlords
are putting on residents and how do you suggest we go about getting
them removed?
- One big concern for many residents is all the high density housing
and lack of houses; what are your feelings on that and how do you think
the city can help with it?
ICE:
- ICE has been a hot topic and according to what weve found,
ICE hasnt been a big issue in Midvale, but you said that youve
alerted neighbors when ICE has come and you wont help ICE. As
Mayor, you would be in charge of the Midvale UPD, so wouldnt it
be better to use the resources of the UPD to work with ICE to help them
find the murders, rapists, drug/human traffickers, etc, instead of them
going off of what limited info they may have and accidentally arresting
those they werent intending to go after and causing fear for residents?
- How do you plan to educate the residents of Midvale regarding
their rights and to help them feel more comfortable?
Events and Activities:
- You said that you would like to see lots of great events in Midvale,
what kinds of events do you have in mind and how could the community
help you implement them?
- What do you like about the repair cafes that you mentioned
and how can Midvale help to make that happen?
City Outreach:
- We agree that the city needs to be better and how they get the information
out about events, how do you propose that the city does that?
- How would you encourage local businesses and schools to promote and
participate in the events?
- Since many residents already have concerns about the citys budget
and you feel that we need to be smarter with the tax payer dollars,
do you feel that theres a reasonable way to have more events and
get the word out, without it being an issue with the citys budget?
Can you give some examples?
Favorite Part of Midvale:
- What is it about the restaurants in Midvale that make them one of
your favorite parts of Midvale?
- What other things do you enjoy about Midvale?
Other:
- If you dont get elected as Mayor, what will you do to help
make Midvale a better place?
- Is there anything else you would like the residents of Midvale to
know about you or your plans if you do become Mayor of Midvale?
